They will go to OLOL, just like a lot do now. That place is turning into a shite hole.

Consequences of relying on taxpayers.

Again? Didn't they get a lot of money from the government to keep it open in the last year or 2?

Damn, where will all those unfortunate people go now when they have a chest cold?

THey were suppose to but from what I understand the deal fell apart

They were promised some back in August but I am guessing the terrible state budget outlook likely adjusted that plan.

Nice

I can't imagine how much of a clusterfrick this will make OLOL.

Hopefully those uninsured patients won't want to venture all the way to OLOL. And the ones that do will have actual emergencies

And Essen in general, especially if they ever get around to expanding the Essen/I-10 intersection, the construction of which I'm sure will take the better part of a decade.

Many will not have transportation to go that far. They will call an ambulance that they will not pay for.

Sounds a bit discriminatory.

They shouldn't have went against the Jindal camp some years ago. They completely railroaded the BR General and threw OLOL a bone.
None of this matters unless you're in an emergency situation and don't live in South BTR.

Damn. Just dropped off the guy I live with there this morning on my way to campus. I live right down the street from there and will say it is a very convenient location for when things go south. I know hospitals can't deny people entry without insurance, but it seems like all they're doing is moving the problem to another part of town. All this means for me is driving 20 minutes to get to the hospital instead of 1 minute during an emergency.

Will make? I brought my 9 month old daughter there for a burn last week.(EDIT) The pediatrician and BR Clinic Urgent Care told me to bring her to the ER because we saw blistering. It was no big deal(she grabbed a light bulb) but her mother was freaked out so I took her to make sure her hand was okay. It took three and half hours to see a doctor for a 1 min consultation. This was on a Tuesday afternoon. They said they were over run with children coming in to be checked for the flu. I'll be going to the General Bluebonnet next time there is an emergency

How is that discriminatory? The patients don't pay for the ER services so it's hemorrhaging money. If you don't make any money you close your business. Blame the people abusing the ER instead of pulling discrimination bs

And I don't like it at all.
