Pit Barrel Cooker

I have two of these. Set it and forget it. My neighbors have BGE's and are really impressed with the Pit Barrel's. Check out the videos on the site.

Do you want it portable or permanent? It isn't that hard to build one out of bricks or cinder blocks. We had one at church in my hometown that was built with cinder blocks and had brick on the outside to make it look a little nicer. The thing was like 25 feet long, had four 4x6 grill sections, and four metal lids to close over them. A couple of doors at the bottom to add wood or coals. We would cook a few hundred boston butts at a time for fundraisers.

If you're sort of handy, you could build something around 4x6 out of blocks and add the lid and door to it.

I bought a Hasty bake last summer. I did alot of research. It came down to the HB and the BGE XL. I love this pit it. It's big enough to cook for a bunch of folks, the temp control is fabulous. You can get it locally at shoppers choice in baton Rouge.

You can get a big green egg and a decent gas pit for that price

Really depends on how big, but this is the low side for custom pits.

You will have better luck in the $2500+ market
