So all or nothing? Seems pretty absurd if you ask me.

All or nothing is an absurd oversimplification.

I'm quite sure that the police union and the police officers have every intention of respecting the civil rights of the people of Baltimore.

Too much policing is overbearing, racist and oppressive. We wouldn't want that from the Baltimore PD, now, would we?

Baltimore is getting exactly what it asked for. Let the New Black Panthers police the urban areas.

Places like this are no different than third world country neighborhoods. That is why they use a military style of policing in areas like this.

The lack of nuance by people who think you have to either be 100% for cops or 100% against them is insanely common. There should not be such a negative connotation for asking for a better government with higher standards.
Well, when you see other cops get raked over the coals and criminally charged for making a lawful arrest of a legitimate criminal just because said criminal is black, and you're surrounded by hostiles every time you enter their neighborhood, you're going to be less likely to go there.

See a lot of crime scene tape in your neighborhood? Or do you overhear conversations like this one on a regular basis in your hamlet?

Somehow I suspect the cops aren't just policing less aggressively. I suspect they are tanking.

I have resisted the urge to post this article, but since it is perfect for this discussion, De-Policing.

Because drug offenses and violent crime have nothing to do with each other. Smh
ETA: This area needs education more than policing.

Honestly, I could see something like this happening in New Orleans too.

“Before it was over-policing. Now there’s no police,” said Donnail “Dreads” Lee, 34, who lives in the Gilmor Homes, the public housing complex where Gray, 25, was chased down. “People feel as though they can do things and get away with it. I see people walking with guns almost every single day, because they know the police aren’t pulling them up like they used to.”

This is not registering with any of my feels.
