I didn't realize the back flow wasn't calculated as part of the crest. What is the worst case scenario on top of the crest since NOAA doesn't calculate that in? Family is looking for guidance as to whether to stay or not.

If you have another option for them to stay the night, take it. The back flow for this is going to be nasty and unpredictable.

People are getting all lax because the rain stopped but that water needs to go somewhere.

At the very least, even if their houses don't flood, it will be fricking scary seeing water rise oUT of the canals at a fast rate.

The elevation of most of the homes around Chatsford is around 40 ft.

I think they'll be okay but some parts of Shenandoah closer to White Oak or Tiger Bend might be at risk. I'd be cautious because it's likely that the escape routes will be blocked for a while even if you don't flood.

Water has been over George Oneal @ Kabobs for couple of hours. That same ditch has risen 9" in 2-3 hours. It will cover Antioch Blvd in an hour or two.

As someone who thought their house would never flood and was today rescued by a boat after sitting outside all day waiting, get out if you have another place to go that's safer. It's zero fun.

I think the main problem is there isn't another safe place to go. It's flooding everywhere

Sounds about right. Some of the highest, driest ground in southeast Baton Rouge.

Something I learned thanks to the 83 flood.

House I grew up in Antioch Villa on the other side of Tiger Bend was probably ten feet lower.

Most of Shenandoah is high ground. Thanks to that fault line along Tiger Bend.

Just to update I think Shenandoah Ave @ Jones Creek is the only way in and out. I water is rising by the minute.

When you say cover, you saying the entire Blvd? It runs all the way to the park. You saying it will cover that?

There is water on the Calloway's side of Jefferson but the Stumberg side is dry

I think he means the intersection. Cars are still driving down Antioch.

I've seen three 18 wheelers drive down Kennesaw. This is insane. It's like when wildlife gets displaced by floods. I've never seen an 18 wheeler in Shenandoah and I saw 3 in 5 minutes. EBR sheriff needs to shut this shite down. They're looking for detour routes since oneal is closed.

Exactly. There's a lot of traffic going through right now. I was surprised at how active everything is at this time of the morning.

What are they going to do? Go down to Tiger Bend and turn around there too? It's flooded there.

I see them coming up Antioch, then turning up Shenandoah and heading to the front of the subdivision to the country club. That entrance is open. Where they're going from there, I don't know, but they're heading to Jones Creek Road.

Well Mother Nature stepped in and closed the road for them. They won't be driving down Kennesaw now.

I saw one earlier this evening stop and sit in the turn lane on Old Jefferson then back in to the AT&T Building to turn around and head back toward Jones Creek.
