Heading up to Austin in late March with the SO, what should we do? Staying right downtown. Gonna have about 4 days. Weather should be perfect that time of year so anything outdoors would be a plus. Favorite restaurants or bars as well. Thanks! Also, we're mid 20s and sorry for no pics.

One of those downtown hotels is supposedly haunted, so you have that going for you.

Franklin BBQ. Bring a small ice chest of beers and get there early. They close when they sell out.

Wife and I went to Moonshine (BBQ/southwest type restaurant) and Bess (fancier place). Both were delicious.

If it's not too cold, try paddle boarding on town lake. Kayaking there is also fun.

Some of my favorite restraraunts - Barley Swine, Salty Sow, Uchico, Uchi, Qui, La Condesa, Contigo, Franklin BBQ, LA BBQ, Jay Mueller BBQ, Sway, Elizabeth St Cafe, Odd Duck, Kome, Taco Deli, East Side Kings.
Too many bars to list - hit up Rainey Street for sure, way better than 6th. If you like beer over 50 micro breweries most with tours and tasting rooms. Also can hit up hill country for vineyards. Some bourbon distilaries in area too

Rainey Street is not way better than 6th.

Rainey is where the hippies hang out.

La Barbeque is every bit as good as Franklin's and you don't have to wait in line.

As far as food I would say Hillside Farmacy or Moonshine for brunch.

Perry's or Truluck's if you're looking for a steak.

Everyone will tell you to try Torchy's Tacos but a better option is either Las Trancas on Ceasar Chavez or Taco Mex on Manor (especially breakfast tacos).

If you're looking to get tatted up then Triple Crown is a good choice.

Lots of great bars on 6th east of I-35 as well as south austin

see the bats under the SoCo bridge i guess

lots of outdoorsy stuff around barton creek/zilker park

i know this will sound a little weird for a vacation but if you've never seen a movie at the alamo drafthouse you should do it. They have lots of classics, quote alongs and mystery science 3000 style (called Master pancake) events. You can get booze and dinner there as well.

Not sure what other interest you and your SO have but if you have any other questions i can help you.

the Rainey crowd is pretty well mixed, lots of working professionals over there (although they may not dress like you would expect). The true hippies/hipsters don't really go there much really.

Yeah, don't see hippies on Rainey much, mostly young professionals, if looking for preppy croud west 6th might be best spot then. 6th St also good for college party crowd

Esther's Follies is a must. Makes for a great date. Political comedy. Skit type stuff with a magician thrown in to break it up. Make sure you buy reserved tickets far in advance.
