When are they going to make a cheap and efficient way to desalinate water?

You mean, evaporation? Terribly.

Why don't they do that for California?

Obviously its not cheap and/or efficient enough to implement in a large scale.

Got me. The only engineers they would need is the cast of Moonshiners to figure it out. Jim Tom could help them bang out evap in a day. The rest is simple but on a massive scale.

And let's just quantify daily water usage of an entire state vs the water requirements of x gallons of diesel used in the state per day. It's a fraction.

Yeah, step 2 is not getting near the attention it deserves. But 'grats on the free diesel plus energy required to split water molecules using electricity, which is more than likely being provided by burning fossil fuels.

Feel free to pick your favorite fossil fuel.

Only in this politically driven system can the process of refining fossil fuels to make gas, burning the gas to make electricity, to then extract hydrogen, to then recombine with carbon, to then refine to make gas (or diesel), to then burn to power a car be seen as a better alternative to refining fossil fuels to make gas (or diesel) to then burn to power a car.

It's always funny to me to see the electric car people bragging about being better to the environment. Where the hell do you think the electricity comes from????

- that's the problem with most "green" fuels/energy, people think that you just magically cut out the power that was needed when using fossil fuels. In reality, you just offset it to somewhere else.

And actually doing something with the CO2 the alarmists are all upset about.

How about the production and disposal of the batteries that run them?

I think Toyota may have a hydrogen car on the way. I haven't looked into it but I know it was the pace car this past weekend at the Nascar race. The Toyota Mirai.
