watchespn is HORRIBLE but, espn through playstation vue/sling tv looks fantastic.

uverse says espn is responsible since it's their app.

espn says they can't reproduce the problem so, it must be at&t.

can someone else check to see if they are having the same problem?

note: i have apple tv 4, apple tv 3, roku 2, samsung galaxy s4, windows 10. i have reinstalled the app. i have restarted the devices. the devices are wired, not wireless. i have tried chrome and edge on my desktop computer.

On U-verse wifi the app loads 10 seconds then freezes. On Verizon data I have no issues.

what problem is it having?

mine typically runs out of bandwidth and either reduces picture quality or freezes up completely. then a commercial comes on and it works perfectly.

How are you watching?

I've got uverse and Netflix runs fine on my tv but Amazon prime and watch ESPN run like shite.

Both are fine on my laptop though.

blurry and pausing on all the devices i listed in the op

the problem is team x isn't always on the broadcast channels (playstation vue or sling tv). thus, i have to watch through sec network +, i.e. watch espn. it's basically unwatchable. as in, sd tv in the 70's was better than this

i'm getting 45+ down through at&t. all my apps look fantastic and espn through playstation vue looks fantastic. it's just watch espn

i need one of these two clowns to take ownership of the problem

then you are running out of bandwidth too. espn+ adjusts picture quality based on available bandwidth, so whey your internet momentarily hesitates or slows down, it drops out of HD mode (gets blurry)

I have the same issue and usually end up just turning the shite off and listening to the radio stream through lsusports.net.

i'm getting 45+ to every device that i test. plus, every other app is serving up 1080 EXCEPT espn. bandwidth ain't the problem

well every viewer in the country is not having the issue, so it is not a problem with the espn feed.

if you know that badwidth is not your problem, then it must be an issue with your equipment or your software, as that is the only thing left.

I haven't tested mine, so I'm not sure what the 45+ means, but I have similar issue. WatchESPN works great on my iPad but is terrible with the roku. Netflix and other apps come in clean. I just figured my internet speed wasn't good enough, but then wonder why it's fine on the iPad.

good question....seems to be the same issue that OP is having. I only watch on one device, so I can't tell whether something would work better.

that's definitely the narrative espn is using

what i don't understand is why espn looks great through playstation vue on the same devices and all the other apps look great. also, i ran watch espn through my phone over sprint and it was great. switched to wifi - terrible. same app. same device. different conduit

45 mb/s "down" or "to my house." it's a respectable speed. plenty enough for watch espn to work very, very well on multiple devices simultaneously

so far, you're right. neither one of them will take ownership. the last suggestion i got from uverse was to do a factory reset on my gateway.

I may try that before the game today

Did you try the factory reset?

I was having trouble with all live sports through a stream. They were jumping around and the frame rate was so bad that the basketball would disappear except when being held. This was on the espn app and on ps vue.

I replaced my fire stick with a fire tv that is hard wired to router and its 100% improvement. Still not as good as direct tv or cable broadcast, but watchable.
