Did anybody else notice that AT&T worked much better in the stadium last night than it has in the past? Normally, I have a hard time even sending a text message but last night I could load web pages - even a weather radar video.

I wonder if this is just due to the extra equipment AT&T brought in after the flood? Whatever the change, let's hope it sticks.

I know, I know: Verizon, bruh!!

Was told that antennas were added into/on the stadium to improve reception.

Reception has not been the issue. It's a bandwidth issue and that's a much bigger issue than antennae.

Was a bandwidth issue Instead of enjoying the game everyone is taking selfies and posting to their Facebook. It's been fixed now

Definitely noticed. Even was able to watch a little Ark-TCU. I'd imagine it had something to do with stadium and campus not being at capacity of a bigger game.

Yep. Defiantly noticed it.
A 67% filled stadium helps a lot.

LSU Athletics worked with ATT to install a DAS which loosely translates to many antennas each covering a concentrated area of the stadium.

It's permanent and part of their efforts to improve the game day experience. Once the infrastructure is proven, there are plans to provide a game day app with replays and stats

Actually it's a matter of RF noise. Imagine 100,000 ppl each broadcasting radio signals and that's what a cell carrier has to deal with in a modern stadium.

I noticed antenna's along the walk ways so it's a permanent addition and it was much needed.

I thought it had more to do with decrease in people on campus, decreased tower usage.

I understand that, but other stadiums and other carriers have managed to figure this out. AT&T/LSU is way behind the curve on this.

It is incredibly expensive to deploy.

Major carriers want to put their own equipment in which means 2-3 completely separate DAS networks.

LSU built one network. I believe it leases usage to all carriers. This may not be accurate but I do remember them discussing that option.

I noticed that it worked. However I also noticed that until I turned on Airplane mode and turned it back off forcing a resync, it didn't work well. It really ate up battery apparently switching back and forth between 4G and LTE. Once it reconnected, it went from full signal 4G to about 1/2 scale LTE, but throughput was much better. I had to resend all messages as text and not data until the 2nd half. I just figured same shite different day until the stadium emptied out.
