At what age do you stop saying "yes mam/sir"?

is it until you realize that you are very old and kids are saying that to you?

Why would you ever stop?

It is so engrained into my brain I can't not say it.

After college when I entered the professional world. I will still say it to parents I have known since childhood and to adults in authority - but as a sign of respect and not a 'requirement'.

I won't stop. I get people telling me to not say that all the time. I can't quit.

Kids say it to me, but I still say it to adults. However, I have recently noticed that more and more people are offended when I say it to them (especially the women).

I've never said it. I can be very polite without using ma'am or sir. My parents were big on manners, but never asked me to call them sir or ma'am.

Never stopped. I just see it as a sign of respect, nothing to do with age.

Never.
My grandmother's shade would make an appearance and beat me silly if I didn't.

I'll be 63 next week and still use it, including when I address people younger than I am (which is getting fewer and fewer).
ETA: I never used it with my parents. They were always Mom and Dad.

Calling your own parents sir or ma'am is weird as frick imo.

Probably about 30 years old, then you become "sir" to others. Will still say it to my family elders, occasionally my boss but I don't really have that kind of boss.
