I think just in terms of scope and population affected, it's worse.

But, no doubt, B'ham is a shitshow as well.

More to do with the area schools. The schools had the forecast and the weather did exactly what was forecasted. The schools held the kids three hours after the snow started then called every parent in Georgia to come get their kid.

I was lucky. I made it home in 5 1/2 hours, many were not so lucky.

I am so pissed about how Hoover handles this because these roads should be salted by this morning. Even though it costs a lot to keep snow equipment, if they had one or two trucks with the capability, they could hit most of the main roads overnight. My kid is still stuck at school.

That sucks. There is no way I would let my child stay over night at school. I also couldn't blame this on the administrators of the city or school for me waiting on them to decide what's best for my child. I would have known the forecast and planned accordingly.

I hope your kid is ok when you are able to see him/ her.

Many people in Atlanta are still stuck on the roads today. Some kids had to sleep on the bus.

Check your water main coming out of the ground turning into the house. You should have a hose Bibb on this line. It is most likely frozen. Run an extension cord out there with a hair dryer and thaw out the frozen water inside the valve. It will take longer to get the hair dryer set up than thawing out the line.

This happened very quickly. We were not supposed to get much, if any snow. I didn't want to be that parent that over reacts, but we left to get him even before it was announced that school closed. BHM is very hilly and the roads to get to his school were icy and several multicar pile ups prevented me from getting to him. I am sure you would have anticipated this happening, but I fell short on this one. He's safe, that's all that matters.

No doubt. Hope you get to have him in your arms sooner rather than later.

South side and mountain brook are a complete disaster. I bet there are 2500 abandoned cars between university and bcc

I made it home in about 2 hours yesterday but I also got out of work just as the chaos was beginning.

This storm had terrible timing with everyone being in the middle of work/school. Weather people underestimated the amount that ATL would receive, all week the story has been south of ATL will get hit the most.
