An armed man gave customers at a Hattiesburg restaurant quite the scare Saturday morning.

According to witnesses just before 9 a.m. an armed man entered Shoney's Restaurant on U.S. 49 and was acting erratic.

When the suspect was taken into custody, he had this to say;

“I'm just saying I just tried to come eat and they talking about that I did something wrong...cause I ain't have no money... I have no.....I do have the world…”

FWIW, this was directly across the street from where that other crazy guy shot up Cuco's.

The real news here is that Shoney's is still in business.

I guess that's why shutterspeed put "Restaurant" in quotation marks.

Used to love their hot fudge cake as a kid though.

I was gonna post something like this. I thought they closed down in the 90's.

It used to be nice to eat at as a novelty, but I stopped going years ago when company policy no longer required washing dishes, silverware, and menus.

This one is in Mississippi so it doesn't really count.

We had to eat there for breakfast every day when we played in the Dome. We'd clean that place out.

I could swear I remember them going bankrupt. Maybe someone bought the trademark.

The wife and I ate at one in Knoxville last summer. It wasn't horrible and they made a special order for my son, so I appreciated that.

There's one on 190 somewhere around Erwinville. It's been boarded up for years, but there's still a streetlight in the parking lot that someone pays the bill for faithfully.

I guess restaurants don't really die, they just move to Mississippi.

That, or Mississippi is just so far behind the times that the bankruptcy news hasn't gotten there yet.
