Arkansas has always done this...it isn't new.

quote:

Robert E. Lee Day is a holiday marking the birth date of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, observed each year on January 19, Lee's birthday. Because he was a Confederate general, it is mainly celebrated in the Southern United States, particularly Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. Due to its time of year, it is sometimes associated with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

In Florida, it is celebrated on January 19. In Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi it is celebrated on or around January 19.

In Georgia, it is celebrated on the 4th Friday of November.

Why not? Lee's birthday is the 19th after all.
