Nope, but I probably should be.

I think I'll sign up once I renew my license, but the thought of someone else having my organs kind of freaks me out.

I am. Won't have shite worth using, but if they can rummage around and find something I haven't destroyed then they can take whatever they want

Except my unit, I'd like that intact

You don't have to be renewing your license to become an organ donor. You can do it in like 2 minutes online

I moved states, so I guess it technically isn't renewing it.

How does the organ process work? You die, they cut you open, take whats good, and sell them to some poor soul holding onto the transplant list?

I am and I do not believe that anyone will "let you die" so that your organs can be harvested. It doesn't work that way. They have no vested interest in it and have no idea who will get your organs but they do have a vested interest in you as their patient and by dealing with your family.

As a first responder, we never checked to see if they were an organ donor or any of that. Neither did the paramedics. Neither did the nurses and doctors of the ER. The organs and such go to a national registry so there is no evil nurse/doctor who wants you to die so that the organs can go to their chosen recipient.

However, if it were to be wrong, so what? If I am so bad off that I can be killed off so easily then let me go. Sounds like life wouldn't be that great afterwards anyway and i have been thru enough medically to last a lifetime.

Honestly if I a bad case of cancer, I would not fight it but do palliative care and live my life till it was done. I have no fear of dying. Life has been fun but every party has to end. I don't take it personally. (And I have no issues with you if you see it completely differently. It's just my opinion based upon my life which I have lived.)

I'm an organ donor. My mom needed a double cornea transplant. If anybody can use my shite, go for it.

I'm not afraid of death, I don't think.

That's my attitude, if they can use it then go for it. I'm not afraid of death and would prefer that to a long painful recovery. As a ginger, pain meds and anesthesia do not always work well on me and I have awakened during surgery and felt them cutting me and my kidneys open.

I do not want a long painful recovery being given pain meds that work about as well as skittles. Screw that, I'm outta here, lol!! Good luck to my organ recipients, hope my loved ones can laugh at my funeral when thinking of me cause I sure had a fun life and I prefer they laugh when remembering me.

nobody as a first responder or ER personnel cares if you are an organ donor or not. our job is to save your life or preserve it as best we can. I'm all for giving up my organs, skin, eyes, for others that can use it. there's way more parts that can be harvested than I can name.

for those of you that think your life hangs in the balance whether or not you are an organ donor, you are 100% mistaken. most of the people that die in the ER can't have their organs harvested. I would say 75% and that is a generous number.

Yes. No reason not to be. If I'm dead and gone I might as well help somebody else out;
