I think it says alot if you'd choose anyone over your family. Of course the first conversation I have with any girl I'm getting serious with is my family comes first and they have to be ok with that and unknown my family will always welcome whatever gurl I bring home because they care for my happiness and trust my decisions. I feel like if you chose your spouse over your parents it shows you had a strained relationship in the past

Last I checked if you get married your wife becomes your family. Your entire mentality on this is pretty dumb.

When you get married or in a relationship that is heading that route, that person becomes your family. If you'd choose mommy over your woman, you have either a shitty woman or you're fricked in the head.

The fact that someone from the same state as new Iberia and houma is making fun of someone else for trashy and backwoods is pot meeting the kettle

Certainly true in my case.

Mostly because I do things my way. My wife accepts this, my parents never have.

Family always comes first.

Of course, your definition of family will change with marriage, especially after children.

No I'm saying it would never come to choosing because I settle that beforehand

That's pretty silly. There is not a single person on this earth that I will ever intentionally put before my wife. Not my parents, not kids, not anyone.

If forced, I would choose my spouse over anyone in my family and I have a great relationship with my parents and siblings

Now if its over something absolutely ridiculous that my wife is being unreasonable about I will absolutely tell her she's being unreasonable and will only support her as far as rational arguments would allow

but my wife and family get along great so they've never really had any arguments

I also don't see how anyone you'd potentially marry could be okay with that.

I choose the family I picked.

Just because they're blood doesn't mean they can't be assholes.

I'm not particulary close with my family. there are no issues or anything, I just kind of went my own way. My parents are involved in my kids lives, but, we are just not that super close.

My wife talks to her mom at least twice a day and her sister at least once a day.

I think in the end, she would choose whomever she agreed with. She would not blindly choose me or her family.

Once you are married, your spouse is your family dipshit.

And yes, I would choose my wife over my parents if it came down to it. Also, I would choose my kid over my wife, and she would do the same to me. (In a life or death situation)

I'm not a religious person, but I follow this advice in the Bible:

quote:

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24

Not under any reasonable circumstance. If she was mistreating them, sure. All factors remaining neutral, wife comes first.
