When you answer, tell us your field of work (or your job if you don't mind). If you love your job, do you buy in to the organization's mission/vision/values (maybe a 1-10 on how much)? Is this your career job or part-time for fun?

I used to be an engineer and hate my job. It was more interesting than what I do now but it ran my life (always on call, long hours, demanding, etc) I've moved into more of a Regulator/Policy/Compliance role. It's boring as shite, but I get paid more, haven't worked on a weekend or stayed past 4:30pm in 6 years, and take my vacation when I want. The later is more important to me so I deal with the boredom and monotony.

I'm a 9 to 5er.

I work at a DoD installation negotiating/writing contracts (I'm a federal contractor).

I've learned in my life that no one (employment wise) really gives a shite about you so you need to look after yourself. The company I work for is only loyal to what the customer wants regardless of what the contract says.....so goodbye loyalty.

Jaded? maybe but facts are facts

You've got to be a people person and a bit of an extravert to appreciate a job like that. Do you plan on continuing this type of work for the foreseeable future?

Very thankful I'm not a 9-5r. Just not for me, very blessed to have a job where I'm full time but still off 4 days a week.

Do you feel like you "missed your calling"?

I'm a 9-5'r for sure. Years of dealing with juvenile mental health patients has taken it's toll. You can only deal with so much as a human being.

Interesting. The time off is more important to you than job satisfaction?

Healthcare is definitely only for certain types of people, especially nursing.

Well there are tons of nursing jobs that are 9-5 type jobs(doctor's offices, etc). But the pay is usually MUCH less than a hospital, 3 12s type nursing job. Only way I would take a 9-5 nursing job is if it was the best thing for my family at the time.
