Or is it a money making scam? Which site has the most detailed results for the money?

I started a thread about it on here several months back and a lot of folks came with positive feedback. a lot of folks said the 23andme test was better and that it goes on sale periodically, so that was my plan.

They (Google) own your genetic information. You're the product not a customer.

Talking about 23andme.

not yet...I haven't seen it on sale and it is a little pricey for my tastes at the regular price.

Ancestry's DNA results correctly predicted all of my close relatives (2nd cousin and closer) that I knew have participated, as well as two distant ones (4th and 6th cousins) it suggested as matches that I was able to confirm by comparing our respective family trees. Seems pretty accurate to me.

AncestryDNA.com is the best for finding family. My wife was adopted. She did the test and through hours of work and study, she found her biological mother's family (she died in 1997) and her biological father.

23&me is really good for medical information

My sister did it. Results were 99.97% English and German (which is unsurprising if you ever saw me).

But I have traced most of my ancestors back to England and Germany so it seems to be accurate. There weren't any surprises to confirm/deny, so I can't tell you for sure

The professor just whipped it out and waved it at the class?

It's just a way of the government getting your DNA without asking you directly for it. It's not a scam but the government could ask the company to turn over all of their records.
