OT Mattress experts:
I'm needing a new mattress. I've been told Tempur-pedic materials retain body heat. I like it to be cool to cold when I sleep. I'm nervous about living in the deep South heat and regretting my decision . Any owner experiences here? TIA...

My niece and her husband got rid of theirs because it was hot.

In my experience, they do not breath as well as other mattresses. I could never have one because my body temperature is above average and I like it cold when I sleep.

I bought one of THESE and a 2 inch cool gel topper and it is the most comfortable bed I have slept in.

I bought one recently and it's not hot at all. It has a cover on it that wicks the heat away. Very comfortable, and I can't stand being hot when I sleep.

My wife and I have one. We both love it and don't think it is hot at all.

Thanks for the feedback.
For those of you who like their Tempur Pedic, what model or price point did you go with? The price range is pretty vast. Do you have to drop 6K, or can you get by with one of their cheaper models?

how is your inside temperature any different depending on where you live?

We purchased one of their more firm mattresses because of my lower back problems. We also got the adjustable head and foot frame. I think we paid around $5K. Well worth it IMO.

I would test each mattress out by laying in each one for about 10-15 minutes.

I would also think twice about getting one of their split mattresses. I've heard it's like sleeping with two twin beds pushed together.

I live in a fairly large older home. If it is 100 degrees outside, it is tough to keep the inside temp at 69-70 like I like it without killing my AC.

I bought a tempur-pedic mattress topper thing to put on a bed at a fishing camp and threw it off the first night because it was so hot.

Not anymore. Also if it's a huge concern get one of their breeze beds they're great. (Used to sell mattresses)

I have this brand of memory foam mattress. Same as TP but a hell of a lot cheaper. I've had it for six or seven years and have trouble sleeping away from home on other mattresses.

Get the knockoff version from Amazon. It's a fraction of the price and the same damn thing.

I've had this one for two years and it's great.

They offer a "Breeze" model that is designed to be/feel cooler. I have one and love it.
