Are premium gyms worth it?

Been thinking about this a lot. Moving to a city where I don't know many people. Looking at gyms. The building I'll be working in will have one but it's likely going to be a bare minimum establishment and it'll probably be $30 - $40 dollars a month. it'd likely get the job done.

A block away from work is an 8 story mega gym with rooftop pools, spas, lounges, etc. It's probably $80 a month. Probably more of a social factor. But I'm not sure how much of that I'd use.

Idk

I'm torn about which I should do.

Do you go to the gym to workout your muscles or gums?

If the cheaper route isn't a complete shithole go for that.

I think that would be the mega gym.

Go to the one that is open the longest, is less crowded, and has more power racks.

The mega gym is open all night 4 days a week, the gym at work will be less crowded, and I'm sure there will be greater access to equipment due to smaller clientele.

For me less crowded is key. I absolutely hate feeling like people are in the way when I'm trying to lift but that's me.

Depends on what you want in a gym. Hell, you can get a good workout without a gym at all if a workout is all you want. A premium gym mostly means everyone else will have more money so hit those classes to meet people.

Well, it's a major city and I don't know what my costs will actually be. I don't know where in going to live.

If you don't know many people then go for the bigger gym. It will give you more to do and better chance of meeting people/crushing pussy.

Also find a local bar that you can walk to and watch games without looking like a creep by yourself. You might meet some strange.

Being in the gym is my favorite part of every day. I'd go for the nicer one if there really is a significant difference in quality.

If you're going to use the amenities like the pool and steam room, it's worth every penny. TVs on the cardio machines is the #1 consideration I have when choosing a gym.

Man, I would not even mess with that right now...if you have to choose one, I would probably do the cheaper one just to be on the safe side and upgrade later if you feel like you need to.

maybe you can go and work out in each one a few times to get a feel for them both while you are in the area getting settled...lots of places let you dot that if traveling for business.

Can you get a trainer at both?

Lap pool and indoor running track would be worth it to me. Otherwise, no.

If its for social reasons goto the biggest yuppie gym you can find. If its for working out then find the most hardcore gym in the area or find the biggest with the most equipment/smallest crowds. frick a small corporate gym, more than likely crappy equipmwnt and a waste of time.
