Apple Maps almost got someone killed in Australia after it was released. It sent them into the middle of a desert. Google it.

I've had some weird moments with Google Maps while in dallas.

The good thing is that it is is to report if the destination is wrong

improvements in Apple Maps don't stop there. For example, when using a cellular connection, Google Maps has been placing me a block -- sometimes more -- from where I actually am. Apple Maps continues to get more precise, which matters when you're not dealing with a perfect grid-like network of streets and avenues.

Today I flew out of Austin Bergstrom International. When I left my house it directed me to what looked like the right place in the map.

When I got there it had me drive up to a manned secured gate and I was on the south Tarmac. I was told to turn around. Siri said "you have arrived at the destination Austin Bergstrom International Airport"

So I'm going to go w a "Yeah, Apple maps suck"

Not to call bull shite on you, but bull shite.

The directions say this...

And this is where the blue line has you end up...

Both are correct and are not a security tower on the south tarmac.

Now come on, I fly out of bergstrom all the time and if you can't find the terminal you got issues. The signage on the road is great.

If you ended up south of the airport that is burleson road which does not have a single building on it that resembles an airport terminal and you can look across the way and see the terminal and all the planes on the north side.

Wtf is going on with an airport that has open gates that allow access to "secured" areas of an airport. Sounds to me like 95% of the blame should go to the airport authority.

In all fairness, google maps has done this to me in Birmingham. A main road was closed and the alternate route took me to the entrance for the workers.

You're dumb if you are trying to imply that Google maps problems are as prevalent as Apple maps problems

quote:

Do you have examples of actual addresses that don't take you where you're trying to get to? Or are you also talking out of your ass? I guess I'm just lucky as I've never had a problem with Google or Apple Maps getting me where I needed to go.

Read that quote 5 more times and tell me about you read it wrong

Well the first quote seems to be saying that Apple's problems are more prevalent than Google's problems.

The second quote is asking for specific examples, and it also implies that I have yet to stumble upon such an issue with either company's map app. In fact, the only example posted in this thread, I debunked.

Any other dumb questions?

I never have flown out of Austin. Don't get me wrong it's on me for not memorizing the route beforehand and being prepared but Apple Maps have been pretty good.

I knew it was off of 71 but it pointed me to the "south terminal" instead of following 71 all the way from the tollI don't know the difference and followed it like an idiot.

Can you post some screen caps of what took you to the wrong spot?

re: Apple's Maps App Directs Alaska Drivers onto Airport Runway
I can't. I cleared out the search and rentered by address and got around.

But you called it on Burleson. Exactly what it did. it had me turn off of 71 and then it had me turn before the Airport to get Burleson and a turn on Emma Browning.

That being said. I got on the toll north of Georgetown and asked Siri to get me to ABIA after Round Rock.
