Can anyone tell me about this island - specifically the Grace Bay Area? Will be taking family of 5 (3 teenagers) to the Caribbean and this has trickled to the top of our list. How does it compare to Cayman? We all dive. Is there shopping? Would you stay in the Grace Bay area or elsewhere. We don't want, this time, a large resort like Beaches or Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Food board post. Doesn't answer any of your specific questions, but saved it because of plans to go soon.

I'll be on Providenciales in 10 days.

We are staying at the Alexandra resort for the second time. The restaurant there (Mango Reef) is fantastic and there are a couple of other very good restaurants within a short walk on the beach. Food is pricey on the island but good. In fact everything is pricey on the island.

You won't find more beautiful beaches anywhere. The turquoise water seems to go on forever. We like to take the ferry to North Caicos for a day trip. We rent a car there and drive to Middle Caicos for a day on the beaches at Mudjin Harbor. Lunch at Daniels Cafe is a must. Cold beer and fresh yellowtail snapper. If you're into caving or photography there are great opportunities for both and there is a huge population of pink flamingos on North and Middle Caicos.

Diving is supposed to be very good but I'm not a diver so I can't comment further on that.

TCI are among my favorite islands to visit even though the interior is scrubland. It's not St John as far as interior scenery goes but the beaches are incredible.

Grace Bay has plenty of nearby shopping and tons of restaurants.

Fantastic island. Stay on grace bay, visit Taylor bay, sapodilla bay and chalk sound. They are all unbelievably gorgeous.

I almost started a similar (but not quite) thread. I want to take a family of four, (with two kids aged 6 and 8) to an all inclusive. I am looking at Paradisus Playa Del Carmen La Esmeralda. I can get it for five nights with airfare for like $3500 with a suite and the family concierge. I have been to paradise island before. I wasn't sure about Atlantis as it's so packed.
I also feel safer in Mexico than the Bahamas. (as silly as that sounds)

Not looking to go over $5k for the trip (not counting food and souvineers)

We are headed there in June. Staying at Beaches (we have young children). This is one of our big vacations this year so we went a little overboard with a beach front two bedroom penthouse and a personal butler. The kids are stoked and the wife and I are pretty excited too. We haven't planned any day time activities yet so I'm eager to hear what people add to this thread.

How young are your children? I ask because places like Seven Stars and Grace Bay Club have childrens' programs but don't require you to get up at 6 AM to reserve a beach or pool chair. They're also a good bit cheaper. Beaches is an absolute madhouse. Just be prepared for it.

Take a cab to Da Conch Shack. It was a great little laid back mom and pop right on the beach. My favorite place to eat on the island.

Danny Buoys was a very active night club.

Hemming ways is a nice upper scale dinner/lounge place great for a relaxing evening.

Enjoy! It's in my top 3 of all of the Caribbean Islands.

I won't have to reserve anything. The butler takes care of that for me. My youngest is 5. I know the other places you mentioned have kids clubs, but this is more what we were looking for on this trip.

Anyone care to suggest a good vrbo option? Thanks for the replies btw. Rental car sounds like a must?

if you stay on grace bay from the regent grand to the grace bay club, you can get away without having one. You can walk into town where there's food and shopping. I'd recommend getting a car for a day or 2, though. Check out spots too far to walk. I recommend a right side, driver side car. It's a mind frick to drive
