The AE's where I work are 100% commission and they just fired a guy a couple weeks ago for not producing enough...

Depends on what you're selling and if you have a customer base or have to build your own. Are you cold calling and how do you advertise. Who's paying your expenses?

this is true for any sales job regardless of commission salary set up. Hell, its true of any profession, period.
