Anyone weaned off bp meds?

I'm starting to think the side effects arent worth it and proper exercise and diet (always the answer but wo bp meds)is the answer. Started this when I was taking large amounts of whey protein and creatine. Increased my bp, then dr scribes hypertension meds and its been 1 thing after the other. Thoughts?

What do you take and what are the side effects?

Do not stop taking BP meds unless instructed by your provider. I am sure the OT real docs will chime in.

Most all meds have some side effects...fortunately, the benefits generally outweigh the side effects. If you can get control of your bp through exercise and diet, then by all means do that. I have seen few that can keep that up long term, though.
Depending on what meds you are taking, there can be some pretty serious danger to stopping, so don't do that without talking to your physician.

My problem is I'm not good at taking mine regularly. I'm not sure if it's a side effects of the mess or the side effects of taking them irregularly like I do but it can make me feel horrible sometimes.

The end game of uncontrolled chronic hypertension is death. Update your doctor on the side effects of your meds. There is always another med to try.

Thanks, I do need to. Maybe it's not side effects from the bp mess that has me feeling bad sometimes but my hypertension itself. I feel woozy at times, get really flush, tired, and my body just feels "off". It's like a rollercoaster almost and I know I need to get it under better control. I'm healthy otherwise, young, not over weight. But my blood pressure is consistently really high and has been for a long time.

Doesn't taking bp meds just increase your life span during your most miserable years?

As an RN, I have never heard of anyone being weaned off of Blood Pressure medication.
Since you stopped using supplements is your BP still high? If it is, you need to takes the medication, or suffer the potential consequences.
