I swear they make it so difficult. Seems like it's harder to adopt a pet than it is to get a job

We did a month ago. We had to give references and they did an in home visit/interview. And it was 300 bucks.

If you can't fill out the paperwork to adopt a dog, I will hate to see you attempt to house train it.

I have 5 rescues. None formally adopted. They all just showed up and never left

I got one from the pound several years ago... $60 and they fixed her for me first. Was really easy overall.

I got tired of it for my current dog. Went to the pound by the airport and walked out of there with a great puppy...no questions asked. She's a hell of a dog a year later.

Bingo. Adoption groups want to make sure the adopter isn't a POS who will further neglect the animal.

That said, some groups can be a little overzealous

About 5yrs ago, I had decided that I was done with dating for a while and that I was going to adopt a dog. The girl came over to show me the dog... yadda, yadda, yadda... I'm married with 3 rescue dogs.

I guess a few bad apples spoil it for everyone.

They just all seem to want someone to be home all day with the dog. I mean people got to work

I did and it couldn't have been easier. Whatever headache you're going through, it'll be worth it. Adopted dogs make the best pets.

My wife got a dog from PAWS once. They gave a list of 100 things they would do, to make sure she would be a good fit for the dog. Interviews and house visits and such. She signed the application and went home.

The next morning they called her to pick up the dog and we never heard another word from them.

All of our dogs have been rescues and all have been good dogs.

Our current dog has the patient of Job to handle my energetic five year old.

my yellow lab had triplets and one died, so we adopted a black lab puppy that was left at the fire station to replace the deceased one. The black lab works so hard every day to be the best of the three to prove his worthiness in the family. The dead beat horny black lab dog is a few blocks away but i'm going to not tell the puppy about his dad for 36 years for fear of the puppy no longer wanting to be a part of our yellow lab family.

Yeah, but at least they keep the lawn manicured and the pool clean.

Well played, but no. They're all quadrupeds. I'd love to have some yard help tho.

Then they bitch and moan about not having enough money to fund things...

Been there and done that as well. That's at humane societies. Go to the local shelter/pound and its like 20 bucks for a dog.
