Anyone know what's going on with NOLA traffic the last couple weeks?

shite is getting to baton rouge levels.
Ever since the beginning of November traffic around 5 has been insane going in and out of the cbd.
Anyone know why? Any road closures along other major routes? Is there construction happening on the CCC?

It's because of the time change probably...everybody seems to leave work on time to beat the darkness, and then once it's dark people can't drive for shite.

That was my SO's theory. Just seems crazy that traffic can be relatively constant for months and then all of a sudden I'm averaging an additional 20 or 25 minutes in my commute.
ETA: first time I noticed it was the Thursday before the Bama game. I figured that perhaps a lot of people from out of town were coming in to hang out in nola on Friday before heading to BR on Saturday. It hasn't let up since.

I attributed it to time change too, but I've been having to drive from Metairie to Uptown area at 6:30 (well past dark) and the interstate has been a parking lot.

Last week from Thursday till Tuesday, there was a jewelry show at the convention center that cops blocked off main streets for some ungodly reason in the Warehouse District. Other than that extra 20+ minutes to my drive home it just seems to be regular around this time.
