Anyone Here Ever Donated Their Car to NPR?

How easy was it? What kind of tax credit can I expect?
I have a 2003 Jetta that's been sitting up while I was living abroad for the past few years. Needs a new alternator and the left headlight doesn't even come on anymore.
I'm exploring tax credits under Federal scrap vouchers, too. Even if it's not as good a deal I'd still consider NPR just out of preference.

I tried donating my car once and they would not drive an hour to pick it up. They were looking for vehicles that had some worth to them. I was looking to get it off my lot.

Not NPR but to The American Cancer Society. $1500 tax voucher for a '92 Saturn my sister in law trashed. Called them on a Tuesday after hearing commercial on the radio. They showed up with a flatbed on Friday and the voucher filled out. couldn't have been easier.

National Kidney Foundation accepts old cars, too. I called them up, they sent a tow truck, I signed the title over, and done. A few days later after they'd sold the car or done whatever it is they did with it, I got an email with the information on the value of the car or the sale price (can't remember which at this point) I needed to take my deduction at tax time.
Couldn't have been easier. I had a problem car, they made it go away, and everyone won.

I've been storing a POS PT Cruiser on my boat dock for 2 yrs...can't get my worthless sister to send me a copy of the title (get a new one) so I can unload it...even for scrap.
It's been sitting up for over 2 yrs, broken water pump under the engine, not worth the cost of the repair.

Why don't you donate it to charity? St. Vincent DePaul is an actual charity that helps people, not some left wing mouthpiece that produces unlistenable radio.

I'd rather not financially support an anti-American Socialist broadcasting network any more than I'm already forced to.

Cars for kids is better than those liberals
OP is a liberal, so NPR and their liberal propaganda is probably way ahead of kids on his list of priorities.

Just partially bury it in your front yard and let people graffiti it... Volkswagen Ranch

Nope, but a few years back I suspect my car was "donated" to NBR.

Kars 4 Kids is a charity for Orthodox Jewish children. They're not very transparent about that. That said, they were very hassle free the one time I used them.

I donated a car to St Vincent DePaul in BR. They came and picked it up. Easy, no complaints.

They use the money to send those kids to accounting school.
