Anyone here ever been 'hypnotized' by one of those comedians?

That's all staged right?

I saw a comedic hypnotist show in Vegas.

I'm skeptical of it, but not so much that I'll go on stage to try it.

Exactly! There's no way it's real!

It's real. I was skeptical of it too until my best friend of 20 years went up there. There were quite of few things he did that made it no doubt in my mind he was under.

Explain.

A chick I knew in college went up in a group for one of these shows. She was in drama and was always a bit of an attention whore, and of course she was the loudest and most obnoxious person on the stage when she was "under." I think it's BS.

I must have been under hypnosis when I saw this thread a few days ago.

Years ago I saw Flip Orley in Lafayette. No doubt it's staged, but pretty entertaining.

In that everyone that goes up on stage is in on it? I don't know if that's the case.

If I had to guess, either that or people that just enjoy the spotlight going along with it and acting the fool even though they're not actually hypnotized.

I think it may be a mixture of both. In the case of the girl I knew, I think she convinced herself that being "hypnotized" gave her permission to act more like an idiot than she normally did.

I did once. Ended up naked, barking at the audience, and making your mom's mouth preggo.

I guy I knew went on stage to do it, but the comedian told him he wasn't relaxing enough and sent him back down.

Well, him being my best friend, I knew exactly what makes him laugh, what doesn't, when he is lying, etc...

When he first went up there and the guy put everyone under I was like "yeah right". Now after he snapped his finger and everyone woke up most people were sitting there in a daze. No emotion. The comedian goes on to tell jokes for about 5 minutes while they all just sat there. There were jokes he told that I know would have made my friend laugh like crazy. He never laughed or showed any reaction to it. I knew then he was under.

After the comedian had them do multiple things and then before he sent them back to their seats he told my friend that when he hears a certain word he will become a male stripper. So he wakes him up and tell him to go back to his seat. Now keep in mind he has been up there almost an hour. My friend comes sits next to me and says in the most serious honest way "So, when is the show going to start?" I said oh it's about to! lol. He had no idea what he had been doing up there. After a couple minutes of sitting there and in mid conversation with me the comedian says the certain word and my friend jumps up goes back on stage and starts acting like a male stripper.

After it was over we asked him if he remembered anything and he said not one thing. We bought the video tape and he was in shock what he had done, not because it's something he wouldn't do but because he had no memory of it.

I do believe people can fake it but he wasn't. Still to this day we laugh about that night.

Didn't he remember going up there in the first place?

I got called up to the stage by a hypnotist at the Funny Bone. There were like 6 of us. I was stone sober and didn't want to do it, but peer pressure is something strong. I was not in the least hypnotized so I played along. At the end I had to strip to my underwear and dance which sucked being sober.

A couple others in the group claimed they didn't remember anything.

No. He says the last thing he remembered was people telling him he should go up there.
