Anyone hear about this Chinese Yulin dog festival?

Apparently the Chinese have a festival in which they torture dogs and cats and then cook them alive. The theory is that the pain they suffer prior to death releases hormones that make the meat taste better.

Is cooking crawfish, lobster, and crab alive that much different?

What if someone sees this, sends it to a friend of theirs in China, action is taken to stop it, and the lives of cats and dogs are saved?

Not true.
I once saw a crab break down emotionally after watching The Notebook...

A Google search came up with a bunch of articles and some photos, I don't have the stomach to look at.

Those people should be boiled alive.

The Lewis & Clark expedition's favorite meal was dog, that they would buy from Indians. Apparently it had more fat than all the elk and pronghorn they were used to eating.
I wonder if Lewis' Newfie, Seaman, enjoyed that?
Cultural thing. we do some absolutely savage shite to chickens, pigs and cows, but few cry about it.

im not specifically against them eating dog meat, as i understand its a cultural thing, and I'm sure that as ethical as we try to be with our livestock, there are some sick frickers out there who torture and mistreat the animals they raise. however, the fact that they beat and torture the dogs and cats prior to boiling them alive is fricking appalling and i wish nothing but a miserable death on anyone that partakes in this tradition.

other countries have their own cultures. Everyone doesn't have to conform to this country's way of thinking.
