Regarding a guy who works in my office that I don't know well: Group of people were outside one day, the guy was dicking around on some loose concrete blocks that weren't coned or taped off, fell and got hurt, and now he's trying to get paid.

He gave the lawyer my info (among others). Lawyer calls me and asks what happened but never asks for context as to what the guy was doing when he fell, etc. Just wanted to know what happened and was the area taped off.

Is that how they usually operate? Don't care at all that the dude was horsing around and shouldn't have been on the concrete in the first place?

Don't want to provide the name of the firm, but it's one of those whose website's homepage is plastered with huge settlements they've gotten their clients and whatnot.

That info would probably hurt his case since he represents the dumbfrick.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I tried to stay out of it as much as possible- just answered the questions that were asked. I figure karma will come around for the dude eventually.

That's not his job to prove the comparative fault of his client. If the value of the case is high enough, the defense firm will depose you on what you know.

I would have told him what a retard his client was

Maybe they don't ask you to testify

That is assuming that the ambulance chaser will identify the OP as a witness when asked.

He doesn't have to prove his clients fault but he should want to know what witnesses will say about his clients fault.

If he asked you what happened why didn't you just tell him how it happened and then this wouldn't be still bothering you

As A lawyer that a lot of you would probably deem an "ambulance chaser" (I don't take soft tissue bullshite, but I do sue people) I would much rather you tell me exactly what happened, to include if my client is a retard, the first go round. You will waste far less of everyone's time.

Tell them the dude was jerking off. He is trying to get money because he got hurt for fricking off? People like him are the reason insurance premiums are so goddamn high.

This was several years ago but there was this girl working in another department, temporarily. She was working late this particular day and broke her arm. She just said she fell down going to her desk and fell on her arm. She was trying to get workers comp and talked about suing if, etc. She didn't realize there were cameras in the building. This bitch was at work, with a few other co-workers and a friend, who didn't work there.. And they were fricking around trying to do cartwheels. She broke her wrist by putting all of her weight on one hand, it gave on her and fell with her arm under her.

She was fired.
