I had a friend who had it for about a year but it slowly but surely gets better. Just be patient.

I had it 8 years ago. Lasted about 5-6 weeks. Woke up and thought I was having a stroke.
Went to eye doctor and he basically said it just has to run its' course. After reading about it I guess I got off easy. Haven't had to deal with it since. Yes it sucks big time.
Question: Have you been directly in front of a fan for an extended period of time lately? Room fan at night, tanning salon fan etc? Older generation people tell me this is what causes it BTW. I had FWIW.
Hang in there man

Had it at 8-9. I felt so ugly. Had to take steroids. I don't remember it staying that way for more than a couple weeks
But I still have a couple lingering effects. One of my eyelids is droopier and I have what my friend named side mouth, which mostly just comes out when I'm drinking or stressed

Is that what causes one side of the face to "droop" after a stroke?

It is caused by a virus. But it's not good to have air blowing directly on it
There are also therapies and home exercises you can do to help the recovery

There is no link between Bell's palsy and a stroke

The vast majority of people (80%) get better even without treatment, however we typically prescribe steroids and antivirals because some literature shows improvement in outcomes wit these medications.
Go see a doctor, because other much more scary things, like brain or parotid tumors , can present in a similar fashion.
But playing the odds, you will start to see recovery in the first 2 to 3 weeks with near complete resolution by 6 weeks.
Hope this helps.

Ah, I got ya. I am thinking of facial paralysis. I just did a little research of my own and saw that when they can't link any specific cause to facial paralysis (which can be caused by a variety of ways - including stroke), it's known as Bell's.

Two of my friends, both females, have had BP for over 25 years. One for 40 years.
If you are referring to vita-stim or other such "therapies" that involvd electronic nerve stimulation they have never been shown to provide better outcomes than the natural history of the disease. Most up to date physicians do not recommend these anymore.
In terms of home exercises, I am not aware of any data saying they help at all, but I guess there is no downside, so go for it.

Saw dentist and doctor today.
Got steroid shot and a Rx for prednisone;
Having a CT scan tomorrow to rule out tumor or stroke.
=================
I turned 45 in March. I had only visited the doctor once in the previous ten years.
I've seen him 3 times in the last six weeks.
guess my warranty ran out, just like a Ford.

Had it about a month. Had to tape my eyelid closed when sleeping.
It just went away one day.

Do you have any movement left or is it a complete paralysis?
How about your forehead movement?
Recent dizziness or change in hearing?

Wouldn't say it's complete, but it's pretty close.

How about your forehead movement?
Can only move left side.

Recent dizziness or change in hearing?
Not that I know of.
