I was trying to sleep more to reach some fitness goals I have. Only problem was when I was sleeping 8hours a day I felt sluggish all day. My optimal sleep is 6-7 hours. It took me a long time to figure this out. Anyone with me?

You're only talking about a hour difference

No. I used to sleep in until noon before I have kids, now I am up at 7 every morning and it fricking sucks. Morning people are the worst people on earth and anyone that willingly misses out on sleep isn't right in the head

The avatar above me has a gross arse and trashy jeans

I'm mid 20s so maybe as I age my optimal sleep time will go up.

As you mature you need less sleep. This isn't ground breaking.

I feel more alert and energized after 6 hours than I do with 8 hours.

Yea that's what I'm saying. Some people are taking it the wrong way. In the moment I want to keep sleeping. However, my energy is much better with 6 or 7 than 8plus after I get moving.

Take it to the poli board. Don't need that garbage here

And don't know because between work and kids and spending some time with the wife I never get close to 8 hours

Everyone's body is different. I saw an interview with some player for the Texans and he said he asked JJ Watt what was his secret, because he always has so much energy even after practice & games. He told him sleep. He sleeps 10 hrs a day. Your body heals when its sleeping, I get about 7 hrs a night, but sometimes I feel like I need extra sleep. I will make it up on the weekends if I can.

I've always been a night owl and often find I'm most productive between 9-2am. It was when I was GA'ing in college that I realized I could survive on about half the sleep I had been getting. Ever since then, i'm fine with about five hours a night, and can do okay for four or five days with four. Occasionally, I'll sleep in and log six or seven on a Saturday/Sunday.

You could be affected by when you are waking up in your sleep cycle.

When I was in college I could not function on 4-5 hours of sleep very well. Usually got 9-10 depending on how late my classes were. Now that I'm 36, I can't sleep in anymore (up at 6-7AM not matter what) and I feel best at around 6 hours per night. Basically I'm requiring less and less sleep the older I get. Also when I used to be hungover in college, I could sleep it off all day. Now hangovers are full of anxiety and no sleeping whatsoever.
