How is the recovery? Anything I should prepare myself for? Doc told me that he would not have to put any packing up my nose. Is that normal? What will prevent bleeding? Any advice would be appreciated

I always thought it was either that or code for a 'nose job' for a big schnozz.

Yes...back in May. It was pretty rough. 7-8 days solid for recovery, and that is down time, not complete recovery.

Had to break the nose too...ouch!

It's going to hurt like a bitch for a little over a week but you're going to be amazed at how you survived before the surgery once it's healed.

My wife had it a few years back. Had it on a Friday and was at work on Monday. She was kind of a rare case. Zero bruising and doctor was really surprised.

the bent nose is not the problem. It's my allergies combined with the bent nose that causes me to walk around with a rag and constantly blow my nose. Freaking sucks and hope the surgery eliminates that issue

I had it done in 2012. Everybody is different but the worst part was the the ensuing night and morning. Lots of swallowed blood and the anesthesia did a nunber on me. I threw up after breakfast and there was a ton of dried blood in it. By choice I was back at work within 48 hrs however. I had the packing and splint up there so there was definitely discomfort. Norco is what you'll be prescribed and as long as you're not a junky I would imagine the Dr giving you plenty enough to deal with the pain. Having the splint removed was the best feeling in the world. Then you use the saline solution twice a day to rinse out the boogers. Do not pick at them because that will hurt like hell. Best to get a ton of steam in the shower and do it there. Use distilled water but your pcp will fill you in on all that post op.

On a side note: A guy I worked with had the same surgery about 3 months after mine. He was out of work 2 weeks and acted like a complete bitch about it.

Yeah, it's not too bad. First two weeks suck. Your nose will drip a ton. But keep having your nose cleared out but it's a great change

Pulling put the gauze and packing sucked and getting your stitched out in your nose was worse. On pain scale I'll give it 9
