Anyone ever get arrested/ticket for boating while intoxicated/ boating under the influence or know anyone that has? How does one actually get one of these anyway. Listening to the radio this evening and an attorney was advertising he could represent you in matters like this. Is this just as bad as a DUI/DWI?

Ever been out on a crowded river during holidays?

Police will pull up to your boat and see who is drinking, not drinking, check to see who owns and operates the boat and whether or not they have been drinking.

drinking and driving a boat on the river is more dangerous than a car, imo

I lived on a river in FL that intersected with the intercoastal and the inlet, we had no less than 6 different enforcement agencies patrolling the water 24/7

I'd never leave the dock without a fully stocked bar, coming in or going out

I know of an Asst DA that got one. He resigned and became an Asst City Attorney, so it must not be that big of a deal.

I've been stopped a few times, but I knew to be careful on Holliday weekends. Once I was kind of buzzed but luckily he just gave us a drive by and ask a few questions check.

I never understood how they are allowed to do that to boaters but not cars/trucks.

Can any lawyers or LE people explain this?

My conservative hunting friends give me strange looks when I ask them why they support LWDF on private property without a warrant. Their only response is "the game belongs to the state".

I worded it wrong. I don't think they should be able to randomly stop vehicles, if that's what everyone is reacting to.
