Anyone else who worked in flooded homes have a persistent cough?

Helped pull sheet rock and carpet in 3 houses last weekend and can't shake this thing in my chest. It's like an itch I can't scratch and I'm coughing all day. There isn't much congestion/mucus but this is getting annoying. Woke up at 3am hacking. Anyone else have this? Might be unrelated to the flooded houses but figured I'd ask.

We live up north, and both my kids have a bad cough.
Point being it may just be nothing. Hopefully

I haven't heard too much about people having issue yet but WWL ran a story of some of the horses that waded through the water. Their fricking skin is literally falling off.

Yeah I got it too. No waking up hacking just a minor cough and itch. Probably due to pulling up 20 year old carpet covered in shite water in a couple of houses molding. Assume it'll go away in a few weeks or I'll be dead of the meso.

You didn't wear a mask brah? Mold spores/Meso/etc. No thanks

Haven't been in a flooded house but I have the same thing and was with a guy this weekend from the NorthShore who has it as well. It is just a nasty Upper Respiratory Infection that is going around and it is a persistent MoFo.

Nah I wore a respirator and my immune system is top notch

It took 9 posts for the correct diagnosis. OT is slipping.

I got very sick (still am). Had fever of 101.8. I'm recovering now, but think I had bronchitis from it.

Have family living there, and there is def abnormal coughing happening that resulted in going to the doctor. Masks are a must, but not a complete fail safe. Take care , all

I've been fighting the exact same thing for a week or so myself. Same scenario as you. It seems to be getting better. Just an annoying slightly itchy cough, no congestion, etc. Haven't pulled any carpet, smashed any sheetrock, or inhaled any mold spores in a while. I suspect it will get better in a few days, unless you have asthma or a weakened immune system.

There was a lot of people complaining about "Katrina cough" back after the storm.

I have had a cough since the end of June. It will not go away. For 3 weeks it was so severe I thought for sure I might die. Now it is minor but still aggravating. It just will not go away.

Dust + mold + damp everything = bad for sinuses. I got a fresh can of saline mist and have flushed my sinuses after every day working. No problems so far, but the nastiness that has come out of my nose is more than worth the can of saline.

Jesus people, if you insist on having carpet change this bacteria nest every 5-10 years.
