I've never been to Canada, but want to do Banff really just based off beautiful pictures I've seen on the interwebs. Like this one.

Anyone that has been and done some outdoor activity, I'd appreciate the feedback.

Tia

Eta also wondering if fall will be too cold.

I went skiing three times in Banff, last time I went was over ten years ago. Don't remember much other than the people were nice and the sights are mind blowing

Yes.

Sept will not be too cold, but...I suppose that's relative.

Awesome place. Best to do when you can do the Icefields Parkway and go up to Jasper N.P. as well. There's like 4 national parks all together on the Alberta/BC border.

I've been but I stayed in a really nice hotel. It is awesome. Definitely recommend golf and going to Lake Louise

I can always count on you

Are those places within hiking distance? How challenging is the hike?

Caterpillar, that's badass. Might have to try and stay an extra night for some non camping activities.

We played 3 different courses, their names slip my mind, but one of them had a hole with a tee box on top of a small mountain and the fairway at the base. It was like a 600 yard par 4. Lots of fun to hit a 400+ yard drive effortlessly

Saw a ton of moose too on one course. Had to skip a hole because 2 were on the green, including a baby. DON'T GO NEAR BABY MOOSE.

My parents went this past Sept. The pics they took were unbelievable. They highly recommended it.

Check the local gun laws if you're planning on traveling with a gun.

I have been trying to convince my wife to do this trip because it left some a good impression on me.

She is all beach though for vacation.

You'll have to do some driving but it's not bad. Lots of hiking locations along the way. Here's a link that can tell you more than I about what to expect between Banff and Jasper

I've been, but it's been a long time. There are lots of trails, from easy to difficult, and a tram to the top of the mountain. The icefield tour is pretty interesting if you have the time to drive over to Jasper. Lots of bears, so be aware of that.

Been a few times during different times of the year. It's a beautiful place well worth the trip.

Also, the dollar is up right now so that's a plus.

Watch out for bears. Seriously.

Living in TN and doing a lot of hiking in east TN, is it comparable in terms of number of bears? They are all over the place in the Smokies

Yeah.

I'm sure Roger can elaborate, but we took some hikes and the guides we asked were no bullshite about wildlife threats.

Bears, moose, etc. We had a can of bear mace the size of a big spray paint can. My brother sprayed some on the sidewalk by our hotel and it shoots out like a fire hose

Also, the mosquitoes are ENORMOUS! Very slow though, but holy shite they were like mutant sized mosquitoes.

Most beautiful place I've been probably in nature and I've been lucky enough to have seen beautiful places all over. You're going to love it.
