Anybody Know About Wordpress Websites, Specifically SEO Stuff?

Websites are not my specialty, and this is the first time I've ever used Wordpress. I'm building a site for our state falconry club. The name of the club is "Alabama Hawking Association". The site isn't finished, but I've been publishing and testing it as I go. The main thing is, I need the homepage to come up in google searches for "alabama falconry". It doesn't. If you go about 4 pages into the results, you can find other pages of the site. If I search for "Alabama Hawking", it's on the first page of the search results.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Anybody suggestions?

I have that, but it's possible that I'm not using it correctly. I followed some tutorials to get a start. Maybe I need to watch some more.

Once you get the setup right, which it looks like you've got some help with you're going to need to work on getting a few links from prominent websites related to your site's content.
It looks like the top result for that search has a handful of links from outside sites and is also an exact match domain. Then you have a couple of govt. regulation sites. After that the first page should be pretty easy to reach once your page elements are right.
Google webmaster tools would be helpful as well to be sure you are indexing properly.
