The number of migrants entering Europe has reached record levels this year. Germany expects to take in 800,000 asylum seekers this year - four times last year's total.

The surge in numbers has created tension and disagreement over EU migration policy. Germany has been prepared to accept large numbers of asylum seekers, but other countries have not.

Mr Orban, who heads the anti-immigration Fidesz party and was in Brussels for talks, said Hungarians "were full of fear".

"People of Europe full of fear because they see that the European leaders, among them the prime ministers, are not able to control the situation."

During a tense press conference with European Parliament President Martin Schulz, the Hungarian leader said that "nobody would like to stay in Hungary, neither in Slovakia nor Poland nor Estonia.

quote:

European Council president Donald Tusk said on Thursday that EU countries should accept at least 100,000 asylum seekers between them, a sharp increase on a previous European Commission target of 40,000.

EU states instead so far committed to sharing some 32,000 asylum seekers from Italy and Greece.

He also took Mr Orban to task for comments in which the Hungarian leader said his country was being "overrun" with refugees who threatened to undermine Europe's Christian roots.

Mr Tusk said: "Referring to Christianity in a public debate on migration must mean in the first place the readiness to show solidarity and sacrifice."

The human cost of the crisis was also put into sharp focus on Wednesday when five children were among 12 migrants who drowned in Turkish waters while trying to reach Greece.

Images of the washed-up body of a three-year-old boy, who died alongside his mother and five-year-old brother, circulated widely on social media.

A lot of these people are really refugees fleeing the war in Syria.

This photo from Greece may be the photo that causes things to change (I'm showing it because it has been widely circulated on the major news sites - there is a much tougher photo of this little guy out there):

You know it was just like this when the Mayans abandoned all their Central American cities.

Those in charge constantly causing death & destruction. The average people get tired of the BS, get their family and GTFO.

The future problem is they don't assimilate and carry a stone age religion with them that fundamentally changes the host areas. And the concern is it's not for the better.

Fleeing to escape religious persecution.....

Unfortunately at this point the Earth is full-up. And you can not trust that for every 100 or 1000 innocent Infidels who cross there is not 1 underwear bomber.

There is no answer.

Foe every one of those poor kids that have drowned there maybe 20 rotting somewhere in the Middle East. In a mass grave or who knows what.

The EU leadership seems to be trying really hard to distribute these asylum seekers among all the EU countries; however, the EU members are fighting back. You have to wonder if this is something that may crack the EU.

I do feel for many of the Syrians who are fleeing the war. It truly sucks for them to not be wanted anywhere.

Pretty much. But I do wish the media would do a better job of differentiating migrants from refugees. I hold two differing opinions of the two groups.

I just find it funny that people hate white western culture, but risk the health of their family to enter our countries.

Yes I read this article yesterday, has some pics of kids I wish I hadn't seen. Not bloody or violent, just something a father doesn't want to look at. The pic you posted of that guy carrying that kid is a starter.

My village has taken several families in, and our church is helping them out. Crazy stories to hear from them.
