I have surgery tomorrow. What should I expect in regards to recovery and restoration of vision? I googled it and it was kind of all over the place. I just wanted to see what some personal experiences were.

Bro enjoy your last day of vision. Make sure to see the ones you love one last time.

Youll be fine

Just be prepared to sleep face down for a while, and keep youre head faced down throughout the day. The gas bubble created during the surgery needs to stay in a certain position. And when you look straight, it floats up.

Thanks. How long did you have to do that?

That's what my friend experienced when he had his surgery. His eyesight is fine now. Good luck.

When I was 17 I took a nail to the eyeball. It wasn't nearly as painful as it sounds, which surprised no one more than me. So I had a puncture wound and detached retina. The worst part was the follow up appointments I had for several months after my surgery. They would lay me flat on my back and look into my eye with a light that seemed to be composed of a small, dislodged part of the sun. And just to be sure, they put some kind of unearthly magnifying lens in front of it. It was incredibly painful.

They did this to me on Monday. Pretty sure I had been abducted by aliens.

A buddy mine had the surgery a few years ago. He said pretty much the same things. He had to sit in a dark room for weeks just looking down mostly. His vision is back to where it was before the surgery.

To be fair, he gave an appropriate answer to the question in the topic.
