Go to a doctor and find out for sure from a professional. There are antivirals that can help (a little) and some pain meds will come in handy. Shingles sucks. Badly. Like I saw posted earlier, a breeze hurt. Perfectly stated.

I had them about 8 years ago. I have a bald head and they started on my forehead and spread to the back of my head in four distinct rows of blisters. Looked like my head was a Michigan football helmet made of Shingles. Very attractive. Mine burned way more than they itched.

I was miserable. I waited awhile to go to the doctor. So it had gotten bad. I had to take a couple pain pills every night just to get decent sleep. Jump on it early and your better off.

I had them last year at 29 years old. On my right neck. It wasn't too bad, but looked terrible. I went to the walk-in doctor, got some herp pills, and it cleared up quickly with only minor discomfort.

Yes. Take the antiviral and pain meds. It felt like jellyfish stinging me all day long. Over a year ago and sometimes it still tingles.

My dad had it. It was the only time I ever heard him complain about something hurting.

Just got over a 5 week bought with it. Still have scars. Felt like terrorist beat the shite out of my rib cage and then started putting their cigarettes out on me. Glad that's over.

Yes.

Twice. Both times after 30.

First was worse.

Agonizing. Had residual neuropathy in my back for over a year after the rash cleared.

I had them on my scalp a few years back.

WORST. PAIN. EVER. (outside of blown disk in back).

So bad my HAIR hurt to touch. Had to sleep in a chair because it hurt to have my head on a pillow.

It was diagnosed late, so I had to wait for it to run its course. Naturally, it took the full three weeks. Don't wish that kind of misery on anyone.

Some old timers around my house used to eat clay dirt to cure shingles. True story.

Thanks for the bleak outlook everybody. Sitting at the doctor's office now and will choose opiate induced coma when given the option

I had it at 31 and the left side. hurt like hell when the my collar or fabric in general would rub up against it. It took about 3-4 weeks to clear up for me. It only itched at the beginning then just became an annoying discomfort. Oh and the burning sensation.

Former co-worker had them at 40 and from his knees up to his belly button and everywhere in between. I felt real bad for him.

If it makes you feel better, I think passing that kidney stone was worse and it was only for about a 12-hour time frame.

I had it and it wasn't too bad. But then again, I'm a badass mf'er.

I took Valtrex for 7 day and it went away.

ETA: I think the older you are, the worse it usually affects you. I was about 35 when I had it.
