Looking to go cut down my own Christmas tree around the New Orleans area? I know most places are on the North Shore, if anybody has any where to recommend I appreciate it.

Yeah, we used to when I was a kid. Not in Louisiana though.

Can't remember the name of the place, but I used to do it as a kid on the north shore. My parents want to re start the tradition, so I'll have to figure out the name of the place.

We use to go pick ours out at a farm, but they would cut it down.

This was in Tennessee though.

As a kid we did it. It's fun for the kids and their mother, but it's a pain in the arse for dad. Kids and mom pick the thickest tree, then u have to cut through it with a handsaw by yourself

We did one time, but my dad forgot a saw and we had to dig it up and haul it back like that.

I did once..we tied it to the roof of our station wagon, sang Christmas carols driving to and from...it was great

The only issue was some redneck in a big truck harassing me and caused us to drive off the road then on Christmas Even we realized we had a squirrel living in the tree and once it jumped out then my wife's cousins dog chased it around the house ans destroyed almost everything.

I'd do it again in a second though

I find it somewhat hypocritical of society. When I was building a house a few years ago in Austin it was a damn near act of congress to cut a couple of trees down. That was the most challenging part of the whole process.

Meanwhile families were flocking all over the place cutting Christmas trees down for fun.

From farms who planted the trees for such purpose.

We used to do it as a family when I was a kid. There was a farm in Prairieville or Gonzalez where you could go cut your own down, it was fun

This sounds like a classic Phil Dunphy moment.

We do every year. Kids love it. There is a farm in South AL, probably too far for you. If you happen to find a place, one word of advice: Be Ware of the split trunk trees.
