Like something that was worth a lot of money that you got for cheap? If so, what was it, what did you pay for it, and what is it worth now?

Bought a motorcycle, "used" with 1.4 miles, off Craigslist for $3500. Put 1000 miles on it over 3 months and sold it for $4500.

We got a baby bed/changing table for $150 in craigslist. It's one of those ones that changes into a double bed. It's worth upwards of $1000. The guy was moving across country and didn't want to ship it

There's way too much exposure with eBay so it's hard to get a good deal if your intent is to flip said item to make a profit. Craigslist is better but again depends on your locale. In more rural areas you may be able to score for example, an iPhone 5 that someone is selling after upgrading to a 6. They have no money invested in it and may be willing to let it go for like $50 which you can promptly turn into $200 on eBay. In a bigger city there are probably a lot more people running the same game.
The way to go if you're looking to flip items for profit is to hit up estate sales. I recently purchased an antique phonograph for $250 and sold it for $1000 on eBay. A few months ago I bought around 500 piano rolls for about $50 and sold them for a combined $1200-1400 on eBay. At another estate sale I bought a dozen or so coins for $20. One of them was an 1807 Draped Bust half dollar which fetched about $250 on eBay. Two other coins were rare Chinese coins which sold for another $150. There are deals to be had out there, just not really on eBay.

Storage auctions are good too but so much work and most of the types that default on storage units are straight nasty. I've found good stuff in the past but it can be like having a second job if you do it enough.

I bought a 1 yr old wakeboard boat with 30 hrs on it for 23k off sticker. Kept it 3 years and sold it for same price. I looked for a long time, had cash ready, and was willing to drive 8hrs to pick it up.

I found my truck on eBay in 2010. It is a 2009 f-150 xlt that had 6500 miles on it. Ended up buying it for $21,500.

Just bought an 04 Z71 Tahoe off Craigslist. Has 140K miles and only gave 7500 for it. Probably could sell for 10-11K right now.

My son used to love Thomas trains and those frickers are expensive. I bought all the additions and an asston of trains used for less than half of the price of new ones. I only buy stuff that offers free shipping as well.

Dad bought a $3,000 French door fridge from a lady moving out of state for like $450. We had to go get it and the thing was almost completely brand new.
