Going to be moving to a city that has Uber service, sounds like it might be a fairly decent way to make some side coin.

What experiences have y'all had with it?

Glad you made this thread, I saw an ad recently and was thinking about doing this as well. Thought it would be a nice way to make some money and have a flexible schedule between grad school and an unpaid apprenticeship

There have been at least seven Uber threads in ten days. Just busting balls.

I've used it a bunch. Drivers seem to do well, like their app and service. I've heard zero complaints about Uber.

I'm thinking about it, seems like an easy way to make some cash in the evenings and saturday nights...

Was curious about this as well. I work close to the airport, and was wondering if you can pick clients to drive based on where they are going. Probably not worth it, but would be nice to make some money on the commute I have to make anyway.

Uber salary

quote:

According to Uber, the median wage for an UberX driver working at least 40 hours a week in New York City is $90,766 a year. In San Francisco, the median wage for an UberX driver working at least 40 hours a week is $74,191.

the following sentence says that does not include the costs to operate the vehicle though, so that should knock off a nice chunk of that

Ah didn't see that. Your right. Still a pretty penny I would imagine could be made part time. OP also check out Lyft and see if they have it in your area.

Then you won't be hired as a driver.

Not sure why driving strangers around in my car doesn't sound like a fun idea.

If I still had the CR-V I would do it. But BR also isn't NYC or San Fran. You won't get the demand. And I imagine most of the business will be drunk students asking to be taken around the corner for $5 with 30 people in your car.

They can't "ask" for a certain price. Not how it works.

Used UBER Saturday and a buddy and I were talking about this. On the flip side, if you have a sweet ride and are pretty good with the ladies; this could be a fun gig @ 2AM on Friday and Saturday nights....

Female friend does it in San Diego while between IT jobs. She loves it and she is picky about times she will pick up (like not after 11:00 pm) and also where she will take people.

Uber has different rules on the kinds of vehicle they will allow, depending on the city. She has a small car and it's fine in San Diego. Some places require an SUV or a large sedan.
