Going on a trip mid march and have done a little bit of research on things to do, but any advice from personal experiences is welcomed.

TIA

Honestly, there isn't just a ton to do in SP. Quite a few restaurants, bars, etc. on Front St. and Back St. We enjoyed Willy's on the beach/pier near the water taxi and the Jambel Jerk Pit. Some of the best jerk I've ever had.

I think there are a few excursions you can do, but I'm not sure. It was strictly a dive trip for me. If you're into that, or want to snorkel in Hol Chan or Shark-Ray Alley, chat with the guys at Chuck and Robbie's Dive Shop. Awesome guys and they'll take good care of you. They were building a paddleboarding dock last time we were there too. They also offer some booze cruises, etc.

ETA: Chicken shite bingo at Wahoo's on Thursdays can be a pretty good time.

ETA2: Be sure to save your Belikin bottles. Can get quite a bit of money back, especially if you buy them in the crate form.

How much is it to rent a decent flat for a month near water, bars, and restaurants?

Depends on your definition "nice." I saw some across from Chuck and Robbie's that were being leased for $500/week, but they didn't look what I would call "nice."

San Pedro can be a bit higher, especially food and drink wise, than a lot of other places in the Caribbean. Cost to get goods out there is quite a bit more than other places because it's fairly isolated.

The best thing you can do in San Pedro is get a flight out to Ambergris Caye.

San Pedro is on Ambergris Caye. Unless you're saying to take the puddle jumper instead of the boat, in which case I completely agree.

eta: talking about transportation from Belize City.

Nope, but my parents went there ~ 20 years ago and loved it.

YMMV.

Are you staying in town? Southern end like Victoria House or North end?

On Ambergris Cay? Yep, a few years ago.

Thursday night is boxing night. They bring in Hondurans and Mexicans to box. They hate the Mexicans and pull hard for the Hondurans to win.

The restaurants in town were pretty decent. You'll be there during the dry season which is good. I felt that the town had a different feel at night and didn't feel as safe as I did during the day. If you like beaches it's not a great island as the beaches are tiny and it's rocky and there's a lot of seaweed once you enter the water. If you take a boat out to go snorkeling though it's good snorkeling.

You can get a cheap flight to the mainland for a day trip and drive across the country and back with a driver for a fair rate. There's a nice Mayan ruin to visit and the cave tubing expedition is supposed to be spectacular. We were there during the rainy season and the water level was too high. The people on the mainland are extremely poor. The average daily wage is about $1.25 an hour.

When you get there rent a golf cart
Drink as much belikin as you can
Walk out one of the piers to a dive shop to go snorkeling, or just rent the shite and swim to the reef
Go on a river tour
Go on a Mayan ruin tour
Drink more belikin

DO NOT go into Belize city, get off your plane, get on the jumper, do not pass go

Rent a cart. After you tour the city, find the 'secret beach' on the western (non-carribean) side of Ambergris. You'll pass through barren wasteland and dirt roads by Coco Beach resort to get there but it's worth it.
