My step-FIL is a mason. He's tried getting me to join his lodge but hanging out with a bunch of 70 yr olds does not sound appealing to me.

I wouldn't mind hanging out with a bunch of 70 yo men drinking at a lodge and soaking up their knowledge. It's the creepy ritual stuff that turns me off.

But hanging out with a bunch of 50 year olds in black leather does?

The Masonic Shriners wear a red hat known as a Fez named after a town in Morocco, where in 980 AD, 50,000 Christians, including women and children, were brutally murdered by the Muslims. As the streets ran red with the Christians’ blood from the massacre, the Muslims dipped their hats in that blood as a testimony to Allah. The red Fez symbolizes the slaughter of Christians in that town. The Masons still wear the red Fez adorned with the Islamic crescent symbol. Among the oaths of the Masonic Shriner organization is one that says, “...and may Allah the God of Arab, Muslim, and Mohammedan, the God of our fathers support me to the entire fulfillment of the same. Amen, Amen, Amen.”

bullshite. First off the Fez wasn't a common headpiece until the 19th century. When it was pushed as a turban replacement. It was more common in Cyprus and the Balkans, then it spread into north Africa.
No one was wearing fezzes in 980.

The Great Fez massacre which was in the 11th century was a mass killing of North African Jews, not christians.
Fez had a large Jewish population (still has a lot of Berber Jews).

There was no 50,000 or even 500 Christians slaughtered in Fez. Also in the time period you mentioned Fez was contested between two islamic powers, not a time for that BS.

So in actuality you made up an anti-Islamic post just to be cool and since it's old history you figured everyone would just buy it.

My granddaddy and all of my great-uncles were Shriners. In fact, my granddaddy died at a Shriners fish fry where the men were raising money for the children's hospital in Greenville. They're a great organization in my opinion.
