Any suggestions for Houston in the Medical Center/Museum district?

I am staying at the Hotel Zaza, they have a shuttle for anywhere in a 5 mile radius. I tend to like the most laid back restaurant/bar (bodegas taco around the corner even looks good). Any surefire suggestions on restaurants or bars (dive bars are fine) I should be going to? I am on business, so by myself. Not looking for fine dining.

Bars aren't great there. Might as well go to Midtown or Montrose if you're looking for bars.

Being in my 30's is Rice village too young a crowd?

Bodegas isn't great. Hay Merchant isn't too far and has good beer and food. If you want Mexican El Tiempo on Westeimer is close as well.
Rice village also is close and there are a few good spots around there as well.

Several are young bars or clubs.
The Ginger Man is chill. A good beer bar. But the wait for beers suuuucks.

Ginger Man in rice village has a lot of beer on tap and is a low key spot.

How often do you come to Houston and do you like TexMex? I would say El Tiempo and Ninfa's are "surefire" if you are looking to kill time.

Bodegas is probably my favorite bar in the area.
Can't beat a pitcher and a couple of tacos outside under the oaks on a cool day.

It's Christmas break so the college kids have gone home. Rice village has people of all ages.
Rice village is a good area for a quick drink by yourself. Midtown is overhyped and crowded. Westheimer and Montrose has some good restaurants and bars as well.

The hay merchant and restaurant next door, underbelly, are both good options. Uchi, is a block down if you prefer sushi, very walkable. The hay merchant is laid back and has great food. The bar staff knows their beers.
