Morning everyone

I'm doing some apartment hunting for my girlfriend and I in Metairie. I would love some recs and any advice/opinions on areas there to live.

I'll be at LSUHSC for med school and she will be working in Metairie (already has job lined up).

How do you feel the commute is from here? Areas to avoid? Good complexes to check out?

Thanks for all your help OT

I would avoid the area between Clearview and Causeway and between I-10 and West Napoleon. That is Metairie's ghetto. Don't fall for nice apartments in that trapezoid, the area is rough. There are good complexes near the lake by Cauesway, near Bucktown and spotted all over.

Just the only area you have to avoid is the one mentioned above. The area on the north side of I-10 isn't as bad, but the area between Cleariview and Cleary on the north isn't great either, but it's a huge step up from the southside. (that area has the highest concentration of rentals in Metairie.a0

I have heard of them django. Thanks!

Should we really not look into Metairie? Everything I've seen online seems nice.

Some places we are looking at is the gatehouse, one Metairie place, Boardwalk and some others

Check around Old Metairie. Otherwise, I don't think there are any good ones

I like uptown but we want Metairie because of her job. I've lived in Nola before but she hasn't so I want her to feel comfortable and safe, ya know?

I don't mind driving the extra distance. It's all the same to me.

We have an apartment in Willow Creek for a short term project my husband is working on in Waggaman. Even though the property is old it has been well maintained. I would recommend it.

My parents lived in the ones by Home Depot off of Clearview in that curve on Citrus. They're called Palmetto Creek and were nice. Gated complex with garages. They lived in them for a year after Katrina.

Those ones off of Focis in Old Metairie look okay, but they're working on them and that road constantly

There's a new complex on Lake Ave. in Bucktown that looks pretty nice, not sure of the name. Down the street from Deanie's and Pucchino's...

This. And they just built some new ones on Mounes that look pretty fancy. Bella Ridge in Harahan.
