Any of yall have land with a billboard on it?

What is the going lease rate for a billboard company to put a sign up on your land, say like on an interstate or major US four lane highway?

Anybody in the know?

Costs:
The least expensive way of building a board is the stick-build method. It is also the least desirable for investors and the least likely to withstand weather and rot. The standard unipole structure will certainly last the longest and can be designed to withstand virtually any weather conditions.

The costs of a unipole structure will vary by location and by fabricator, but the following prices can be used as an estimating tool to determine if it is within your budget to proceed with plans to build a structure. These are only estimates and reflect the cost of a turn key project. Steel prices, desired options, and location of installation can greatly affect the overall cost of the project.

14’ x 48’, 50’ overall height, vee, full package, installed – $45,000 to $55,000
10’-6” x 36’, 40’ overall height, vee, full package, installed – $37,000 to $42,000
12’ x 24’, 30’ overall height, vee, full package, installed - $25,000 to $30,000

$500 per year and they usually want a 99 year lease.

It might be more depending on your location though.

Actually you'd be surprised at what I do and don't know...
Should I rephrase the question?

My taxes on it is only 1200 a year, I was thinking about calling Lamar to see if they were interested

Lamar and the bigger companies usually have location scouts that do their due diligence and contact you but it wouldn't hurt. I would ask for the $500 plus 10% of the revenue or 1/12 like the guy above said.

Its in a prime location

Every vehicle coming and going in and out of Ouachita parish passes by there if they are on Hwy 165

they're a few Lamar signs up the road a couple miles

Check the zoning. Neighbors gonna hate and try to stop you. They think that your land = their land. Always.

Call the lease managers at the local billboard companies....

It's not the zoning as much as the permit.....different localities have different rules....and so do different roads....

Most billboard companies are reducing their total number of boards right now...

No , but had a friend of mine lease to a cell phone company when it was ground floor. Fifty year lease @ $1000/mo., erected in a land fill. I'm not sure the tower is still active, but the monthly direct deposit is.

My family owns a lot of land on either side of I-10 past Lafayette. They have a cell tower. I don't know if they were ever approached about billboards. That cell tower is $ though.

Your friend is getting shafted.

Not really, but that was considered getting a good lease/month when I leased them out 10+ years ago. I remember having to pay over 2k/month to some farmer up 49 because he had the land that we really needed. 50 year lease is really good though, most carriers didn't want to offer over 20 years.

Savvy owners get tons of extra signing bonus' and more cash by holding the carriers to exact terms. Meaning that when everyone had to upgrade to 3G (also the e911 service) they got paid because technically it was outside the lease agreement.

There is a tower at E Boyd and Burbank that was over 3k a month if I remember right. The other one on the big water tower at Lee/Highland wasn't as much, but BR Water got paid because we had agreement for all their sites.

I don't know anything about how those deals work. She leased it about 20 yrs. ago on some property across the street from her office. She bought the land for 180k, as an operating, EPA approved landfill, ran it for five years @ an average of 265k/yr., until it got "full." The tower was lagniappe I guess. She's got a pretty good sense for business though, she'll pull down 45mil this year.
