No I'm in Project Controls and was contacted about a position at a Nuke....I know they let you go through the training if you get hired and you desire. The job may be a cut in pay, but would have a lot of upside if I got an SRO.

There is a lot of training. It sounds like it wouldn't be worth it for you. I mean a pay cut plus a bunch of extra work?

The paycut wouldn't be that bad...it sounds like the potential for a manager with a SRO license could be 180k per year or more

If you hired into the RO program, it isn't hard.

Once you become an SRO, there are positions available around the US where plants are struggling to find qualified operators.

Turkey Point, south of Miami, needed SROs so bad that they were offering a $500K signing bonus for a 5 year commitment.

1 hour south of South Beach, and 30 min north of Key Largo.

I'm in Radiation Protection so don't know about the RO exams, I assume they are pretty tough but I've only seen a couple of people fail the program since I've been in the industry. SRO's make good money but life seems to have to revolve around the plant. They do throw big bonus money there way when they try to leave or retire. The problem I see is Nuclear is a dying industry. They have cut over 2500 jobs from our three sites in the last two years and plan on mo e this year. Plants are closing all over the country and there is a good reason nobody wants to work at Turkey Point.
