Any Ecologists on here?

I am a sophomore in Agribusiness right now. I’m supposed to be a senior. I really don’t like it and my GPA is terrible. I was considering changing my major to Wildlife Ecology . I have always considered a career with animals. Is ecology a good field? Can I get a job? Good salary and work environment? Or was the counselor there just lying to get me in? Any Ecologists here that can shed some light?

I am sure you can get "a job". As far as work environment and pay that is going to vary, like in any other field. If you are the best at what you do you can make millions a year, if you suck you can make $28,000 a year.

If you don't mind not having money, do it.
I wanted to do that for a living but when my friends were going to make money and be able to hunt and fish while I was working, I changed my mind.
Go talk to Dr. Frank Rhower. He will give you some good insight.

At first, yes. You'll probably be making 30k working for deq or dnr honestly
If you get with a consulting firm you won't make a whole lot more but more upward possibilities

I watched a video on these for-profit universities and I'm pretty sure many of them are more expensive than LSU. Here's the video link if anyone is interested.

Yes, with wildlife ecology its all about internships and if your professor/adviser hasn't told you this then...well they are dumb.
Also, LDWF is hard as hell to get into and that's where the best jobs lie.

From DEQ. And don't look at the top end of that pay scale with your grades, according to you. So you're looking at yep right at 30k
