My buddy's wife is an antivaccer nut who is now spouting off all these "facts" about how Zika virus is BS and the media is hyping it up to scare people into vaccinating against it.
How do these people come up with this crazy shite?

Here is her rant:
ETA: removed b/c her husband read this and realized I was talking shite about his wife. He's cool with that but didn't want me to directly quote her tirade b/c he's afraid she'll read it

Lot's of international coordination done by a small company.

Bharat Biotech, has become the first in the world to have two vaccine candidates against the rapidly spreading Zika virus, which has infected millions of people in Latin America and has the potential to spread worldwide.

how can the government scare people into vaccinating against it when there isn't a vaccine for it?

WTF is wrong with these people? They'd rather see their kids get polio instead of protecting them. These people shouldn't have kids.

Penn and Teller have a pretty funny video about it. LINK

Your buddy's wife might be crazy if she is really an anti vaccer (is that the right term?).

But she is almost correct when she said
quote:

There is no link between Zika Virus and microcephaly.

Until very recently, there wasn't a direct link found scientifically. It is still rather circumstantial. I did find this new article from today that appears to show the best evidence yet of the connection.

You are mixing two issues. The potential existence of a new virus and the definitive link between vaccines and certain medical conditions.

Being skeptical of vaccinations, given the evidence, does not make someone crazy.

And, what your friend's wife said was generally accurate (assuming you quoted her correctly, which I doubt).

I'd even remove the "kind of", because it most certainly does.
