Ive never owner one but I have a sudden need to cut 15 or so acres and it has always been cut with a big Kabota zero. Not sure what size but I need something to be able to do this.

I later want to buy a grooming/finish mower for my tractor but this property has always been mowed and looks great.

What brand, size, motor, gas, diesel etc...I'm thinking. 60-70 inch cut?

I've read one that cuts 6 acres an hour but I don't need to be that big or fast.

Any advice is appreciated. It will be kept on the property so no need to trailer.

Already have two on the property. They are too slow and eat uneven and I'm a dick when it comes to my grass being perfect.

15 acres is a lot for any regular mower. But if you insist, I'd get a scag or exmark, highest grade possible.

It's fifteen acres of lawn and I don't want to buy a finish mower and a tractor. I have a 100 hp ford with a 12 batwing bush hog but it's not butchering this lawn.

For 15 acres I'd get a tractor with a rotary cutter, aka, "bush hog".

Maybe one of those winged ztr's? They're like 8 foot wide perhaps

Go to Kubota's web site and look at the options there. They have front mowers with steering wheels and regular zero turn mowers. Some are 4wd drive. Several options.

If I'm mowing it as a lawn, I would get a 60", probably get a good lawn cut with it.

Get a Gravely or ExMark 72" zero turn. If money isn't an issue go diesel. I hear what you are saying about a good cut. You will not get that with a tractor and these mowers are faster. These are commercial mowers that are built to cut this much grass.

Man. It is a LAWN not a pasture. It has been cut for 20 years with a zero turn, most recently with a Kubota but I didn't inherit the lawnmower, just the lawn. Last we talked he said it took him about 5 or 6 hours if he did it all in one shot. I don't need to cut it all at once but I'd like the machine that would give me the option.

I'm researching the Skag. I like the ZG332 diesel Kubota 70" cut.

My dad has a 72" Diesel Kubota. That thing is a monster. He cuts all of his yard (2 1/2 acres) and about 10 residential lots in town at his rental properties with it. Has had it several years now and no issues. He researched for a while, and finally decided on Kubota for the diesel option and the quality deck construction (though I think all big brands will have similarly well-built decks).

I had an old Gravely with a sulky when I was young. Do they still make good products? I'll look at the Exmarks. And I'm ok spending the money on a diesel. It's a long term investment.

I've heard nothing but good things about Skagg, Kubota and Xmark. If money isn't an issue I'd get the Xmark. None better.

Oh, and I disagree. 15 acres is not a lawn.

Gravely does make a good commercial mower but I've heard the ExMark is better. Not familiar with the others.

Kubota their diesel is better.
I sold all three and worked on all three.
Specialized in larger mowers for govt agencies like state parks. Whole different world versus normal commercial guy.
Bigger decks are also harder to balance and Kubota and gravely been doing it longer.

Gravely for the balance of the deck
Kubota for the engine
Both good options

Exmark is good for smaller decks but this is big boy world not joe blow with a smaller trailer cutting residential yards world.
